  ABOUT LEARNING!"

 PARENT INFORMATION:

IN RESPONSE TO THE NATIONAL HEALTH CRISIS, SCHOOLS IN ALABAMA WILL NOT REOPEN THIS SCHOOL YEAR.  HOWEVER, IN ORDER TO ENSURE YOUR CHILD'S CONTINUED EDUCATION, LEARNING WILL TAKE PLACE IN A NON-TRADITIONAL SETTING.  BEGINNING APRIL 6th, STUDENTS WILL HAVE THE OPPORTUNITY TO CONTINUE LEARNING ONLINE.  TEACHERS WILL CONTINUE TO PREPARE LESSONS AND COMMUNICATE WITH STUDENTS/PARENTS.

A NOTE TO PARENTS...

April 1, 2020

Dear Parents,

We are so sad that our year came to such an abrupt end.  We miss our PKS family so much.  Having your children in this building every day is what makes our jobs worthwhile.  However, our first priority is always your child’s health and safety.  Even though your child will not be at school each day, we are committed to your child’s continued education.  Because they won't be here with us, we will be teaching and learning remotely.

For all of our parents/students with devices and internet access, you will go to our school website daily beginning April 6th.

www.prattvillekindergarten.com

On the home page you will find a weekly lesson plan and other information.  Within that lesson plan, you will find links to books, videos, etc.  You can click directly on those links to get to your activity.  Each day looks different.  If it says there is a worksheet, you will go to the top of the home page and click on the News and Events drop down menu.  Go to Forms and Information.  At the bottom you will find the folders for reading, math, etc.  Click on the folder needed to find the worksheet needed.  In addition, you can go to the Curriculum drop down menu.  Go to Fun Links to go to links to skill games, Reading Eggs, Splash Math, videos, etc.

WE ARE ALL IN THIS TOGETHER…Your child’s teacher is available from 8:00 to 3:00 each day beginning April 6th.  They will contact you or your child at least twice weekly in some form to provide support, answer questions, etc.  If you have any questions or concerns, please contact the front office at 334-361-3890.  We are here for you!

In addition, we will have a supply pick up for parents.  We will run this in the car line format.  At your designated time, you will come through the car line pulling all the way to the last handicap ramp.  There will be employees to direct you.  NO ONE WILL EXIT VEHICLES.  The building will not be open.  You will need to have a piece of paper on your front dash with the teacher’s name at the top and the student’s name underneath. (WRITE BIG) Make sure to come at your designated time or supplies will not be available.

*If you do not have a printer, you can use plain paper or simply talk about the workbook pages.

*In kindergarten, we are very active.  Lessons are often not completed in one sitting.  Kindergarten students need to be moving around, active, speaking, listening and using all five senses to learn.  For example, some of these standards such as measurement can be taught with your household items.  If lessons are taking too long, they can be completed at different times.

*Your teacher is available daily to support you in the process.  Please don’t hesitate to contact your child’s teacher between 8:00 and 3:00 if you need assistance or suggestions.  You can also call the front office at 334-361-3890.  We are all in this together!

*Physical Education:  Coach Trevor and Coach Susan miss all of you.  They want you to stay active and healthy.  We have attached some sites that you can use in our Fun Links Section under Curriculum to help you with physical activity and health lessons.  Enjoy that sunshine every day.

* Character Education:  PKS is committed to making sure our students are Proud, Kind and Safe.  We have attached videos under our Fun Links Section as well.  The best thing you can do each day is to have two way discussions about good citizenship, rules, and values with your children.  Be a good model!

*Library:  Mrs. Hope Davis wants you to read, read, read!  All kinds of things can be learned and enjoyed in a great book!  Mrs. Hope has listed some reading sites under the Fun Links Section.

*Music: From Mrs. Jocelyn:

I hope that you all are doing well.  Here is the website link to my Virtual Music Classroom:
